Ed Radio's First Life
I spent 4 1/2 years as a broadcast meteorologist in television doing weather in both South Bend, IN and Kansas City, MO. When the economy went south after the terrorist attacks on 9/11 at the same time my contract came up, I found myself back in computer support… although still finding the time to keep my eyes on the weather.
In early February of 2005, I discovered podcasting and started the Kansas City Weather Podcast less than 48 hours later. KCWeather was the first ever weather-themed podcast. I’ve been doing it nearly every day since, putting KCWeather among the few podcasts over 800 episodes.
I’ve always been an active musician. My musical experience is rather broad and varied. I’ve sung with the Cincinnatti Symphony as a part of a nationally selected male chorus. I’ve played my violin in jazz combos, as well as in an orchestra setting. I’ve sung and played drums (mostly hand percussion such as conga, djembe, etc.) in several Christian music groups and worship teams.
In April of 2006, after 4 months of planning, I launched my first music podcast that is an extension of this love for music. Looking out the Window not only plays great podsafe music, but gets the artists to tell the stories about what inspired them to write a song. It gives these songs new life and opens up a whole new love for the music. During the Christmas season in 2006, I also launched the wildly popular Podsafe Christmas podcast that highlighted new podsafe Christmas music every day during the Christmas season.
My family still remains #1 in my life, and I have the world’s cutest kids.
Ed Radio's Second Life
I usually can be found enjoying time with friends, mostly from the podcasting community. My friends are very important to me, and hold a very special place for me in Second Life. Most often (when I’m not camping), I can be found on SoHo island, Podcast Island, or Nowhereville with the likes of Andrea Humphrey, Lynette Radio, Kaye Delacroix, Madison Carnot, Corey Akula, Rich Desoto, Chel Pixie, MB, and others.
