a shift
Well. It's been a while. To be honest I've barely logged into Secondlife at all recently. Too much going on in Firstlife. First there's work, which seems to have settled immensely after an initial scare that I'd have to find a new job and pronto. It's looking increasingly like things are going to be okay as they are.
Second and most important, my Viggo came to visit England and we had the most amazing, wonderful and perfect time together. It was everything I hoped it would be, and more. Except it was too short and now he's gone home. He's seriously considering coming back later this year for a conference he wants to attend, and then maybe next year, something a little more permanent; maybe a year or two studying and working here. I wish it could be forever. It's amazing, really, the way it worked out. After over 2 years of this online relationship, we finally meet and find that it is indeed as real as though we'd been living together all this time.
Only catch is now, the distance hurts even more.
In other news, Livejournal/6apart continues to annoy me with its wankery and incompetence, so I am planning to delete both my LJs (the SL one and the RL one) and write here only. Of course that means that this blog is going to get more RL stuff in it. Or I could start another, but, eh. Too many blogs spoil the cook.

bah
The Herber Homestyle store is closed and gone again. Partly my own fault, I've not been inworld much lately, been far too distractedc by other things (not the least of which being the imminent visit of my Viggo to England). The other thing is that while the new site looked pretty, traffic was pretty negligible compared to when I had the other site on Mainland. So when the email came in to say that my lease was expiring on the Haven Shire site, I decided not to renew. I have also decided that I almost certainly will buy mainland, but that means saving up some RL cash and rather than waste more lindens on another temporary rental site I have decided to leave the store closed until I can afford the downpayment on a purchase.
It's looking like I'll need something in the region of about £100, which is kind of scary, for something that doesn't actually exist. My i-pod cost me less than that.
In the meantime my SL Exchange store is still running. Ironically in the last month 99% of my sales have been from there anyway. I sold ONE ITEM from that damn store. Just one.

First Life Activism
Quoted from jarandhel:
I personally think this idea rocks bigtime but unfortunately Washington is much too far for me to get to. But, spread the word among the glbt community if you can. Maybe other rainbow-kite-flying events can be arranged in other nations too?
A while ago, B and I had an idea. Kinda Discordian, kinda fun. But a very real idea for a good cause. Pretty simple. We want to prove to our nation's lawmakers that there are real GBLT citizens out there. No chants, no marching on the capital building. We want to fly kites.
Rainbow kites. On the National Mall. Nothing "in your face", but if we can get enough people involved, it'll get noticed.
We've created a community for this. It's called
Due to the somewhat sensitive nature, it's going to be moderated for now. If you're interested, join up!

Whew
Well when things move, they sure move fast. I found a perfect plot to rent for my store, IM'd the owner this morning, met him this afternoon and moved right in. Built my new shop in about an hour and a half (easy - it's the second time I've built this) and spent the rest of the evening re-stocking it. I've still not quite finished but it's open and 90% done.
So if you're looking for furniture, or even if you're just nosey to see what I've done, please feel free to drop by.

Sculpted Prims
Oh my god. I cannot wait to get my hands hooves on this.
Also, I am quite impressed that at least some of the Lindens appear to read the LJ
second_lifers community. I had a technical issue which I posted about there, and got a reply from one of them. Quicker than sending an email to support, which I still haven't had a response back from yet.

say hello
My landlady's daughter, who's just turned 18, has been watching me play Secondlife and watching the building, and she decided to join the game. She signed up yesterday, I tossed 1000 lindens her way (which she's spent on two fine furry avatars) and already she's picking up the building really quickly, with very little input from myself. I've kind of taken her under my "wing" and made her my adopted daughter - but she's a smart cookie and I kind of get the impression that she's not going to need a lot of looking after.
If you see her, be nice to her.
