Did we knock out a Linden company?

The physical scripting class is always a bit messy.
We all make objects that jump up and down, disappear into orbit or fall through the floor.
I sometimes fall through the floor too, because I like to sit on those lively prims. Fun!

For the avatars down on the beach it may be a completely different experience.

Imagine laying there on your towel in the sun, a cool drink next to you, your mind is totally occupied by the suspenseful book you read, or the tasty ice cream cone in your hand, or that very interesting person next to you.

Then suddenly an army of prims comes down.
They hit you on the head, smash the glass with your tropical fruit juice, and knock out the attractive avatar next to you.

What would you do?
I know what I would do…
I wonder if that is what happened today.

I was in the sky classroom teaching physical, surrounded by the usual bunch of prims jumping around like fleas.
Students were loosing prims; I saw lots of them disappearing through the floor.
Some were made of rubber, but most were harder material like metal or wood. These hurt when they hit you.

Then Jane Linden teleported into the class room. She didn’t say a word, just stood there for a while.

Because she didn’t answer my “hi Jane” I zoomed in on her, to see if she had any bumps on her head, or gasping wounds. She appeared to be not wounded.
After a few minutes she left again.

Still makes me wonder.
Did she come to see what the class was about, or was she relaxing on the beach when a sudden prim attack set in?

Let’s just hope we did not knock out her company;)

Check it out! You might be a star and not even know it.

Came across this little bonus today and came across a bug @ the same time! If you use the All tab under Search you can actually search every parcel in a select Region!!!! So say your in a shopping district and you want to know all the avaliable stores, well open up Search- All and type in the region! The top result should be eg. Region: Kuula

The Bug that I have come across VWR-10371 for a heads up is the orange >> buttons. These will Teleport you to the region instead of expanding the info. If you wish to see more info on the location just click the name.

Garn :)

will take treats and scritches and bewwy wubbs as payment

In my last blog article I listed five things a not so new avatar like myself have found to do here in this second life.   I have had the pleasure of meeting some long timers here on SL who tell me that one of the biggest reasons for continually logging in everyday is the ability to meet and make friends here on SL.

I happened to have met one of those avatars at a dance club one evening hosting a particularly fun event called “best in beachwear”.   Now when I first arrived here, I did what I think a lot of newbie’s do when they are learning how to get around. The search box at the bottom is a wonderful tool, but sometimes when you don’t know what you are searching for or how to specify parameters your search can return some crazy results. For example I typed in “dance” under the places tab and I got a broad number of results, ranging from the naughty naughty to specific dance clubs. I learned also in the previous weeks that simply because a place has high traffic, doesn’t make it a must see. ( Or a newbie friendly place!)  So how you ask, do I know what’s hot and jumping?  The secret is,  You gotta socialize!  That’s how I found Xanadu Beach, a nice friendly, beach front hangout with some cool music.  Yesterday’s event was a masquerade ball.

When you get there you will be literally dropped in the middle of the action and greeted by the ever so friendly staff!  Reeva  Sands owns Xanadu and assures to have someone always  available whenever a newbie pops in.  And she’ll even make sure you can dance by animating your avatar and putting you in “sync” with everyone. This way if you happen to be new and not know how, no one will know right about but you.  If you’ve ever walked in someplace and noticed everyone else doing something like dancing, but were too embarrassed or afraid to ask, you won’t have that problem here. So the next time you are walking about or come across a place, don’t just walk by! Say hi and socialize.  And if you happen to own a spot, or manage a place or a Sim event where you want more avatar visits and long term participation, don’t let the opportunity escape you when you see someone strolling by.  There is nothing more disconcerting to the real person behind the avatar to feel snubbed when newly arriving at a place.  Even if it’s just to say hello.  I can’t tell you how nerve wracking it is to arrive somewhere and just stare at another avie with no interaction, no typing, and no words.  You start to wonder if anyone is even there!  Or even worse, you arrive at a place where everyone seems to be interacting, talking or in action and you’re just being ignored!  To quote my favorite penguin Ramon from Happy feet, “Don’t be so snooty Judy!”   Socialize!  See ya on the dance floor!

Halloween must be the greatest holiday in the year–you can dress up as anything you want; from a pretty faerie to a spooky witch!

A big plus in Second Life that it’s even more fun because there are so many choices!

Two days to this wonderful Eve and NCI is already in the holiday spirit!

Here are photos I took from NCI’s locations: Kuula, Fishermans Cove and Nova Civis Caledon.

Thank you Beverly Montgomery for the decorations!
